Dear Reed Families,
Happy belated Holi (last Wednesday) and some springtime weather! Last week was also the debut of our moveable, life size “magniatiles” in the library, which students now use to create sweet reading nooks and imaginary spaces. Check out some pictures of our happy builders below.
This Friday, we look forward to our 2nd Graders taking the stage to serenade us and showcase The Bird of 1,000 Colors
during their Music Performance. The whole school got a sneak peek during a community time performance last week that definitely lifted everyone’s spirits. I look forward to greeting 2nd Grade families this Friday at 8:30am in the MPR.
If you’re looking for a fun volunteer opportunity this spring, the RUSD art department needs your help in putting together the largest public art show we have ever staged. Please see the sign up form and stay tuned for more details about the show on April 1. No fooling!
Have a wonderful week! Warmly, Aubrey O’Connor Principal, Reed School
Math Curriculum Home-to-School Connections:
At Reed, we believe that building a love for math starts with curiosity, confidence, and having fun together. Students are learning mathematics through the Amplify Desmos Math program, which encourages problem solving, discussion, and deep understanding — and families can support this learning by exploring math in playful ways at home. Simple math games help children strengthen number sense, reasoning, and strategic thinking while showing them that math exists beyond the classroom. One easy way to support your child is by using a simple deck of cards to play math games during a car ride, on a family trip, or on a rainy day, turning everyday moments into meaningful learning experiences.
Here are a few easy card-based math games that families can take anywhere, helping children strengthen their math skills while creating positive memories together. Have fun!
Reminder - No Electronic Devices at School As outlined in the Family Handbook, RUSD students in PreK-2nd grade may not bring electronic toys and electronic devices, including but not limited to smartwatches, cell phones, tablets (ex: iPads, etc.), and other like electronic devices to school. |
