Dear RUSD Community,

Big congratulations to Del Mar Middle School for being named a California Middle School to Watch. This is a state-level award that recognizes schools with high achievement and a well-rounded culture. Their message to us stated, “Schools to Watch honors sites that go beyond the basics and truly support middle grades learners through academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and strong leadership.” Way to go everyone!

Food Service

Grill Day at Del Mar was a big success. Bel Aire will also have a grill day in mid-March. RevFoods is also hoping for compostable packaging to begin in April. It’s nice to see some positive steps forward.

Our first Food Service Task Force meeting of the year was held in February. We reviewed the background, required guidelines, and options for possible short-term and long-term solutions. A survey went out to participants to get their perspective on which of the 12 discussed options should be explored further. Our next meeting will be held March 18th.

Possible Bond
We continue to gather information about the community’s perspective on a possible bond being placed on the November ballot. Initial drawings and rough cost estimates will be created soon.A decision will need to be made in June to meet the August deadline.

Reed School PreK & Kindergarten Registration is Open
PreK/Kindergarten online registration is open for incoming students new to Reed School. If you have an incoming, age-eligible PreK or Kindergarten child, please register as soon as possible. Early registration is important so we can plan and secure staff and classrooms. Please pass this along to any friends and neighbors in the district. *Current students do not need to re-register and will remain automatically enrolled.

Kind regards,

Dr. Kimberly McGrath

Superintendent
