2025-2026 Reed School Calendar

Dear Reed Families,

This week is another busy week at Reed School, jam-packed with special celebrations. We’ve welcomed the Groundhog out of his burrow (six more weeks of winter, sorry folks), and

today marks our 100th Day of school this year! Students spent the day counting special collections, creating equations to 100, and imagining their world 100 years in the past and future. On Friday, we will engage in play on an epic scale as we celebrate Global School Play Day. Every year, close to 3 million students from around the globe participate in this day of creative freedom. Information about the annual event can be found on this link: https://globalschoolplayday.com/

Last week, Reed students participated in another globally recognized event called The Great Kindness Challenge. We decorated our main breezeway with our handprints and love notes, wrote positive messages in chalk on our playground, made kindness decrees and shared appreciation with fellow Racoons. We capped off the week during community time, spreading joy with a group “dance along,” courtesy of Mr. Devoto and Ms. Lopez’s second graders in their Reed Bop bonanza! Thank you to our incredible school wide events team and to Mr. Devoto, Ms. Lopez and Ms. Lee for a footloose way to show our school spirit!

Warmly,

Aubrey O'Connor & Staff

Next Year

Not Returning to Reed next year? If your PreK, Kindergartener or 1st grader will not be returning to Reed School next year, please let the office know as soon as possible (reed@reedschool.org). This information is crucial in helping us plan for classroom configurations and appropriate levels of staffing. Thank you so much!

After School Blacktop PIck Up Reminder

If you pick up your child in person on the blacktop after school, please do not wait at the blue tables near the MPR. Please walk out onto the playground and meet your child at their classroom # spot alongside the field where they are waiting for you. The breezeway area is very crowded with Ranch classes and students heading to carline, so blacktop reunions need to happen further outside.

Warm Coat Drive

Thanks to this generous community, we donated 64 warm coats to Holy Family Day in San Francisco.

A special thank you to Shannon Everley and Summer Singh for leading our Warm Coat Drive and dropping off all of our donations!

#ReedKindness Valentine’s Craft Project Reed PTA is spreading #reedkindness by sponsoring a special Valentine’s craft project for all Reed students to work on in class next month. Reed Students will make Valentines for the residents of Aegis Living, a local senior assisted living community. If you have any questions about this project or have other suggestions on how to spread #reedkindness, please contact Rachel Berman (rachelberman13@gmail.com).

Lost & Found If you are missing a favorite jacket, sweatshirt or water bottle, please check the lost and found photo album today or contact Allison Greason (a.z.greason@gmail.com) before these items are donated at the end of the month.

Thank you to the five amazing RUSD parents who have generously volunteered to serve on this year’s Nominating Committee: Sarah Chow, Suzanne Davenport, Alison Gathright, Rachel Martin, and Franny Mulberg.

The Nominating Committee does the important work of putting together the slate for the RUSD PTA Executive Board.
