Experiencing Financial Hardship?
As we are approaching the holiday season, if you and your family are experiencing financial hardship and need assistance, please contact our Director of Student Services, Brian Lynch (blynch@reedschools.org) or our School Counselor, Gagan Gill-Bhadare (ggillbhadare@reedschools.org) to learn ways in which our local RUSD and/or Marin community can help your student(s) and family.
Our Inclusion Work: Understanding Physical Disabilities Through Stories
This month, our students explored physical disabilities through a beautiful collection of picture books and novels that highlight strength, creativity, and the many ways people move through the world. In Best Day Ever, Addy’s Chair, Hello Goodbye Dog, and When Charlie Met Emma,
students met characters who use wheelchairs, walkers, or adaptive equipment and saw how these tools support independence, friendship, and everyday adventures. Through stories like Henri’s Scissors, students learned how physical limitations can inspire imagination and new forms of expression. Our older readers connected with characters in Roll With It and Short, who navigate physical differences, social challenges, and personal growth with courage, humor, and heart.
Across all these books, students learned that people experience their bodies in different ways, that mobility tools and adaptations help people do the things they love, and that kindness, accessibility, and curiosity build inclusive communities where everyone belongs. Here are some Learning Disability and Dyslexia Resources that you can review with your child. Here is a link
to some ways to continue the conversation at home.
The Town will be conducting maintenance on the emergency siren system on Thursday, November 13, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
During this time, you may hear the sirens sound intermittently. This is a test and not a cause for concern. To stay informed during emergencies, we encourage all residents to sign up for AlertMarin notifications at www.alertmarin.org. Thank you for your patience.
Kind regards,
Dr. Kimberly McGrath
