Thanksgiving Recess (NO SCHOOL) November 24 - 28
| Dearest Reed Families, Lions and tigers and K-Pop Demon Hunters, oh my! The playground is a-buzz with talk of costumes and trick-or-treat traditions. For the families that celebrate Halloween, we are wishing you a very safe one next Friday and look forward to welcoming all caregivers on campus for our annual Halloween parade!
Last week, the Reed School District successfully completed our Great Shake Out earthquake drill. Students evacuated to their line-up positions in under six minutes flat. Our staff teams provided thorough support in their assigned safety roles, ensuring a smooth and efficient process. A huge thank you to our District Representatives who joined us and provided valuable feedback as we continue to refine and strengthen our safety procedures. Halloween Fun at Reed We look forward to seeing our Reed families and caregivers next week for Halloween festivities at Reed. Please read below for information about the day. Halloween Parade Visitor Check In: All guests
must check in at the tables in front of the office. Please be sure to bring your drivers license if this will be your first time signing in. Check in will begin at 8:00am. Gates will open for guests at 8:35am. Guests may not be on campus without a visitor pass. Guests are asked to form a large outer-circle on the blacktop. Look for cones with teacher names.
General Halloween Guidelines Costumes: Costumes are optional. Students may wear costumes to school. Please be sure to select an appropriately themed costume for your child. Costumes may not include weapons, masks, or be overtly scary (this includes parents).
Be mindful that our students are young and scary images can be overwhelming. After the parade, students will change into their regular clothing. Please pack a change of clothes in a labeled paper or plastic bag so costumes can make it home safely. Classroom celebrations: Classroom celebrations have been scheduled at the discretion of the classroom teacher.
All guests must sign in at the office before proceeding to the classrooms. Party activities and snacks have been arranged by the classroom teacher and the class event coordinator. Please do not send in extra candy or sweet treats for your child to share. Thank you. School Wide Parade:
Our school-wide parade is scheduled for Friday, October 31 from 8:45am to 9:15ish on the blacktop. Parents, caregivers, and non school-age siblings are welcome! Parents must wait on the blacktop before the parade behind the orange cones
. Please do not escort your child to his/her classroom before or after the parade as teachers will lead students in their lines. Teachers will bring students down to the blacktop to form a large circle. Parents and guests will form an outer-circle. This will allow for equal opportunity picture taking! Parents may not stand in the center of the circle or in front of the sound system, as this is reserved for students only. Bay Area Discovery Museum "Try it Truck"
Our PreK classes were treated to a day of activities with the "Try It Truck," the Bay Area Discovery Museum's engineering-lab-on-wheels. Students experienced a variety of design challenge stations that explored concepts such as cause & effect, structure and function, and energy. They built their problem-solving skills by asking questions, designing prototypes and testing their ideas — all while having a blast! |

Lost & Found Missing a sweatshirt or water bottle? Check out our Reed Lost & Found Album and claim your items near the front gate! Outerwear (jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters) and water bottles are most likely to end up there, so label them with your child’s or family’s name.
Given the volume, we must donate all unclaimed items at the end of every month.
Safe Routes to School Walk and Roll for Ruby on **Friday** November 14!
Join a national celebration of the spirit of Ruby Bridges, who, as a six-year-old African American girl in Louisiana in the 1960s, bravely helped integrate an all-white school. It was Ruby’s daily walk to school—despite bullying and threats—that we honor by walking, biking, rolling, carpooling, or parking-and-walking to school.
On the morning of Friday, November 14, we will have: - A bike train from Blackie’s Pasture to Reed School! Meet at 7:45am at the horse statue, or join the train on the Old Rail Trail!
- A welcome table in front of Reed School where the children will receive prizes for walking and rolling to school!
Parents, we need your help! - Click HERE to help lead our bike train
