2025-2026 Reed School Calendar

Dear Reed Families and Caregivers,

The relaxed days of summer may be a few weeks away, but Reed Raccoons continue to stay very busy here at school. In addition to the many field trips I mentioned in our last newsletter (Farmer’s market, Connolly Ranch, Exploratorium, the Tiburon library…), Reed Raccoons are enjoying several schoolwide events. Classes are busy building forts and reading to their stuffies during Lights Out in the Library (see below). In early June, Reed students will enjoy a visit from the Belvedere/Tiburon Children’s Librarian, Ms. Alicia Bell. Ms. Bell will visit each classroom to share a story and present the Belvedere/Tiburon Library Summer Reading program. Students across the campus also are participating in a schoolwide garden beautification project. Reed Raccoons are painting rocks and adding their personal creation to our school garden. Whether it is year-end classroom activities, special field trips, or a schoolwide project, Reed Raccoons continue to be focused, engaged, and enjoying everyday together!

Warmly,
Mary Niesyn & Staff

2nd Grade Visit to Bel Aire School

1st Grade trip to the Farmers Market

Specialist Corner: Library Note from Mrs. Smith

Students wrapped up their library lessons with some poetry fun, using their five senses to explore concrete poetry. Kindergarten explored color, 1st grade wrote about a food or beverage and 2nd grade picked an object.  They had lots of fun making art in the space. We're having fun with Forts & Flashlights in the Library during the last library class of the year!

2025 Reed Library Summer Reading Opportunities & Book Lists Galore

Please return all Reed Library books by Friday, May 30th .  If a book is missing or lost, please send in $20 cash for the replacement fee, rather than replacing the book on your own.  Many thanks!

END OF YEAR MEDICATION REMINDERS from our School District Nurse

If your student has medication stored in the school office, please remember to pick up all medication by your student’s last day of attendance, and no later than 12:00pm on the last day of school, Friday, June 13th.  Please note that our school sites cannot be responsible for medication left over the summer, and for safety reasons medication may not be sent home with your child.

Reminder for the 2025-26 School Year:
If your student will require medication next school year, we are required to have a new Authorization to Administer Medication form on file in the office each school year. You should contact your medical provider over the summer to request their assistance completing the authorization form for all of your child’s medication. The form must be signed and stamped by your doctor and one parent. Be sure to follow our Medication at School Policy before bringing medication to the office by the first day of school, Thursday August 21, 2025.

Wishing you and your families a wonderful summer!

-- Nurse Mankin

Bus Passes on Sale

Since 2016, the Yellow Bus Challenge has provided essential school bus service to Reed Union School District (RUSD) students—helping to ease traffic across the Tiburon Peninsula. What began as a small initiative has become a major success, with nearly half of all RUSD students now riding the bus.

As we approach our ten-year anniversary, we’re excited to share several updates for the upcoming school year:

  • Introducing the TPTA. You knew us as the Yellow Bus Challenge. Now we're the Tiburon Peninsula Traffic Alliance (TPTA)—same team, same mission, more programs!
  • New Website! Visit www.tiburontraffic.org to learn more about the TPTA, explore bus routes, and purchase passes.
  • New Contact Information. Please direct all school bus questions to our new email address: info@tiburontraffic.org.
  • Afterschool Route Pilot. We’re launching a limited-stop aftercare bus route for students participating in afterschool programs at the Ranch (Reed and Bel Aire campuses) next school year. This pilot aims to ease late-afternoon traffic and save families the drive during peak congestion hours. Please look for details coming soon.

We’re looking forward to another great year on board! Questions? Reach out anytime at info@tiburontraffic.org

2025-26 Enrollment
Please email reed@reedschools.org if you will be moving out of the area and/or your PreK, Kindergartener, or 1st grade student will NOT be returning to Reed School in the fall. This information is critical as we plan for staffing, so thank you for letting us know as soon as possible.

End-of-Year Teacher & Staff Gift Fund

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As the school year comes to a close, let’s take a moment to celebrate the heart and soul of our school community—the incredible teachers and staff who inspire, support, and care for our children every single day.
From our 155 dedicated teachers, specialists, and classroom aides to our principals, custodians, and administrators—each one plays a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. Their tireless work and unwavering commitment make a lasting impact on our kids’ lives.
Now it’s our turn to show them just how much they mean to us. We’re excited to launch the End-of-Year Teacher & Staff Gift Fund—a meaningful way for families to say “thank you” to every staff member.
Your donation, big or small, will be equally shared among all staff —a collective gesture of gratitude for their incredible work this year.
Contribute today and help us make this end-of-year celebration unforgettable for our amazing team!
All contributions are completely voluntary—but deeply appreciated.
Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. Together, let’s finish the year with gratitude and joy.
With appreciation,
RUSD PTA Executive Board
