Dear RUSD,
Huge congratulations to the Bel Aire PTA for putting on such a fantastic Willy Wonka play! It was a real treat for our students and community. Enjoy your Spring Break, and we'll welcome you back on Monday, April 14th.
Afterschool Yellow Bus Survey
The Tiburon Peninsula Traffic Alliance (TPTA), which oversees our yellow bus program, is exploring the feasibility of offering limited after school bus transportation (a single bus) for Tiburon and East Corte Madera students attending after school programs at The Ranch (including Reed and Bel Aire campuses) beginning next school year. The purpose of offering this service is to reduce the need for travel along Tiburon Boulevard during peak traffic hours (specifically, during the hours of approximately 4-5 PM). Your feedback is essential in assessing interest and feasibility, so please take a few minutes to complete this
short survey as soon as possible so that we may include your feedback in our planning. Please do not retake the survey if you previously had the opportunity to do so through the Ranch.
Strategic Planning Collaborative
As you know, we began the first year of our 6-year Strategic Plan. I would like to hear a variety of perspectives about the progress we are making on the Strategic Plan and areas to improve. We will meet 2 times a school year. If you are interested in serving on a Strategic Planning Collaborative, please send me a simple email at kmcgrath@reedschools.org.
PK-5 Math Curriculum
A committee of teachers and administrators convened on March 25th to make a final decision on our PK-5 math curriculum. The committee reached a unanimous consensus to recommend Amplify Desmos Math. This decision was driven by the program's focus on: 1) rigorous and standards-aligned content that promotes mathematical thinking, 2) effective differentiation strategies to meet diverse learner needs, 3) varied and effective assessment strategies, 4) intentional spiral review to build mastery, 5) strong student engagement through dynamic and interactive activities, and 6) effective use of technology to facilitate learning.
The recommended Amplify Desmos Math curriculum is available for review by families and community members at the District Office. The Board is scheduled to consider the curriculum for approval on May 13th. We encourage you to take this opportunity to learn more about the proposed math program. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Coordinator of Educational Services, Nicole Trickett - ntrickett@reedschools.org.
Kind regards,
Dr. Kimberly McGrath
