Dear RUSD, Del Mar Mathletes Huge congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade Mathletes! The 7th grade team achieved 3rd place overall, while our 8th grade team took 1st place for the school year. A special recognition to the Bel Aire student who was also a valuable member of this fantastic team. Strategic Planning Collaborative - As you know, we began the first year of our 6-year Strategic Plan. I would like to hear a variety of perspectives about the progress we are making on the Strategic Plan and areas to improve. We will meet 2 times a school year. "We are even stronger together!" | The Board of Trustees reviewed the following items at the RUSD Board Meeting on March 11: - Board of Trustees Update –
The Board of Trustees attended the JLAC Legislative Action Day in Sacramento on 2/26 where they shared the District’s prioritized legislative action needs and also heeded questions around Federal funding and reliance on reimbursements from the Federal government for school services. The Board also reported on their recent activities including, attending an enriching site visit to Bel Aire and meetings with Bridge-the-Gap, the RUSD Foundation, and Actionaly.
- Youth Truth Survey Report Findings –
Director of Student Services Mr. Brian Lynch reported on the recent results from the Youth Truth Survey which was sent to students, staff and families in the Fall of 2024. Overall scores for culture, relationships and school safety remain strong. District’s inclusion work is making a positive impact. Parent participation has notably increased across all schools. Opportunity exists to focus on key sub-groups for engagement, academic challenge, and instructional methods as well as continue to enhance parent communication & feedback, and staff professional development.
- Superintendent Update – District Superintendent Dr. Kimberly McGrath provided updates on artificial intelligence usage in the District, the food service RFP that will be sent in March, upcoming professional development, health curriculum, evaluating data management systems for RUSD, and negotiations.
- Approval of the 2024-2025
Second Interim Budget Report – Chief Business Official Dr. Chris Kim presented the 2024-2025 Second Interim Budget Report and the Board approved with a positive certification.
- Approval of the 2025-2026 RUSD Transportation Plan – Dr. Chris Kim also presented the RUSD Transportation Plan and the Board adopted the plan for the FY 2025-2026 school year.

Survey to Assess Feasibility of a Bond Measure – Ms. Cathy Dominico from Capitol CFG presented information about engaging a public opinion survey firm to assess the feasibility of a General Obligation Bond measure to fund the District's high-priority facilities needs as identified in the Long-Range Facilities Plan. The Board approved next steps to engage with a survey firm.
