Dear RUSD,
On Thursday evening, we get the pleasure of honoring Del Mar as a California State School to Watch! Way to go Del Mar! Your academic excellence and focus on the whole child is noted and recognized!
Taking Steps for Next Reed Elementary Principal
- We had almost 40 applicants for the Reed Elementary Principal position. It was a very strong pool. We narrowed the candidates to 7. We will conduct the first round of interviews on March 20th.
Phoebe Hearst Nomination and Survey Link - Please follow this link
to nominate an amazing educator!
New Request for Proposal for a New Food Service Vendor - Look for a Request for Proposal to be posted in March. If we receive multiple vendor responses, we hope to conduct taste tests in April. Our goal is to have a new vendor begin in the new school year.
TK/Pre-K and Kindergarten Enrollment
- Please help spread the word that immediate enrollments are important as we are making staffing decisions based on the number of enrolled students. As of now, it seems that we might have 5 PreK / TK classes and 4 Kindergarten classes. Register with this link.
Negotiations with the RDTA Teacher’s Union
- The District and RDTA held a third negotiation session on March 5, 2025. The group reviewed norms and established a mutually agreed upon agenda. The group reviewed and reached consensus on the sub-committee’s draft tool and evaluation procedures for non-teaching certificated employees. The group came to consensus on a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a pilot Calendar Committee to develop calendars for the 2027-28 and 2028-29 school years. RDTA countered RUSD’s February 13th offer with 10% salary increase for 2025-26 school year and 8% increase for 2026-27 school year and maintained their initial proposal for full coverage for health benefits and increase to retirement benefits. The district countered with a 3% salary increase for the 2025-26 school year and a 3% increase for the 2026-27 school year with no changes to current health and retirement benefit caps. The district also proposed an additional step on the salary schedule at Step 30, Column E, that would be $5000 more than Step 25, after the 3% raise is implemented. The parties reconvene on Monday, March 10, 2025 where RDTA will offer a counter proposal.
