Specialist Corner: Spanish Note from Maestra Mayes
Bienvenidos! I'm enjoying my time with students as we discover the beauty of the Spanish language and its cultures. Reed Raccoons continue practicing how to greet each other and welcome the day with a song. Kindergartners and 1st graders are learning about pets, numbers, and colors through fun games and activities that help them practice and understand words related to these topics. Second graders are learning about opposites and prepositions in Spanish by playing games and reading books related to these concepts.
Second grade clubs are continuing to learn about Spanish-speaking countries around the world. After exploring interesting facts about a featured country, the students create beautiful works of art, such as ojos de Dios inspired by the Huichol people of Mexico, llamas from Peru, Güell lizards inspired by Antoni Gaudí in Barcelona, and more.
In the Builders Studio, students have been exploring hands-on projects, incorporating key Spanish vocabulary words into their creations by designing shapes and arrays. Thank you to the Foundation for Reed Schools for making this learning experience possible! |
