Dear RUSD,

As the Winter Break approaches, I want to extend my warmest wishes to you all. May this time be filled with laughter, love, and cherished moments with loved ones.

  • Thank you to Liz Webb and Sandeep Sahai for your service to our community on the RUSD School Board! Welcome Sandeep and Welcome Back Liz!
  • January 6th Professional Development / Staff Training - Staff will be engaging in training around Safety, CPR, math curriculum and strategies.
  • Students return on January 7th.
  • Safety - Recently, we have taken 3 steps forward with safety:
         1.  Great Tsunami Response
         2.  Successful District Wide Fire Drill
         3.  Full Agency Safety Meeting - which provided an opportunity for a range of agencies to work collaboratively with staff to improve our plan and give suggestions for site improvements.
  • Math Pilot of Curriculum from Kinder-5th grade - Our elementary math curriculum pilot team, composed of 2-3 teachers per grade level, is finishing up its first curriculum pilot of the year. Students and staff have been excited by the structured math talks, unit stories, and visual models. The team will begin implementing our second curriculum pilot, i-Ready, in January.
  • Working Toward Food Service Improvements - Thanks to staff, student, and community participation and the Board for the direction that allows us to keep working together toward food service improvements. More to come…

Happy Holidays!
