Dear Bel Aire Families,
Please note that the 3rd grade Parent Talk has changed times to 9:30 AM tomorrow, September 19. The 4th grade Parent Talk will be held on Tuesday, October 1, at 9:30, and the 5th grade Parent Talk is on Tuesday, October 8, at 9:30. All three programs will be held in the RUSD Board Room.
The Parent Talk series, led by Bel Aire school psychologist Dr. Megan Singh, provides an overview of child development and school milestones for each of our three grade levels. It's also an opportunity to bring questions and connect with other parents. I will also join the talks, and parent-ed resources will be available. If you cannot attend the grade level talk for your child's grade level, you are welcome to attend a different session--some of the material overlaps.

Recess Update:
I have been receiving several inquiries about recess basketball. The basketball plan for this year is to do a slow roll. We learned a lot from the popularity of basketball last year, and we are being intentional about teaching students how to play safely and fairly while at school. Mr. Sievert is going over rules and how-to in PE class, and we will have structured basketball-adjacent games ("Hotspot" and "3 vs. 3"), designated courts for each grade level, and days of the week for open play. We will also be bringing back our "Junior Coach" student leadership program at lunch so that students can help lead games and contribute to recess activities. The Junior Coaches will demonstrate game rules and conflict resolution strategies at our whole school Monday Morning Assemblies. We are proud to involve students in leadership roles and we believe this will level up recess for everyone. We want to set students up for success. We love basketball at Bel Aire and want to ensure everyone is safe, kind, and fair during the school day.

Hello Runner Families,
Our first XC meet is this Thurs. Sept 19th 4pm at Stinson Beach. Please spread the word. I hope all your little runners can make it. Please be sure to wear a Bel Aire T-shirt or something navy. We all gather on the beach and then the 1-1.5 mile run will be in the sand, so warn your kids this one is a bit harder :) Good luck!
