Reed PTA Meeting Wednesday, October 9 9:00am in Room 17
|
Dear Reed Families and Caregivers,
School definitely is underway! This morning many students participated in our first Walk & Roll Wednesday for the year, Reed PTA launched the first of our monthly site meetings, and students and staff ended the day with our weekly Community Time assembly. We know all the amazing things that take place at Reed School happen in no small part due to our wonderful community. I want to take a moment to thank our parents and caregivers for all the volunteer hours already accomplished. From morning carline, to serving lunch, to volunteering for PTA positions, your commitment and dedication to our collective success is GREATLY appreciated.
Next week, we look forward to seeing all our families and caregivers at Back To School Night on Thursday, September 19 (5:30-7:00pm). The evening begins in our multipurpose room where you will have the opportunity to meet our Reed School staff. Representatives from the Foundation for Reed School (FRS) and our PTA will join the welcome. At 6:00pm, parents and caregivers will transition to classrooms for teacher presentations. This is an adult only evening. Hope to see you then.
Warmly, Mary Niesyn & Staff

Spanish Integration Across Reed School:
Thanks to the amazing support of our Foundation for Reed Schools (FRS), Reed School is very lucky to welcome Maestra Mayes to our Reed School team. Maestra Mayes integrates Spanish language instruction across a variety of settings including Builders’ Studio, classroom lessons and activities, Community Time, 2nd Grade Clubs and more!
Community Time:
Every Wednesday afternoon our entire Reed School Community comes together for a Community Time assembly. The focus of our first two assemblies has been “Getting to know all the adults who work together to keep us safe at school.” This theme aligned perfectly with our first Kimochis challenge for the year, “Say hello and say people’s names on the playground and in class.” We invite our parents and caregivers to take the challenge as well when picking up and dropping off each day.

Specialist Corner:
In addition to supporting Spanish Integration at Reed School, the Foundation for Reed Schools also supports PE, ART, Library, and Music. Please look for an update from one of our talented specialists in each of our biweekly Newsletters.
Second Grade Clubs:
Last week, the entire second grade team launched 2nd Grade Clubs. Clubs take place on Friday afternoons and students rotate through 5-6 week sessions. Participation in clubs gives students an opportunity to engage in a wide variety of activities while working and collaborating with peers and teachers across the grade level.
|
STEAM Lab & Builders’ Studio:
Students in all grade levels have begun participating in lessons in the STEAM Lab and Builders’ Studio. The hands-on learning activities foster development in the Four C’s: Creativity, Communication, Collaboration & Critical Thinking.

Lost & Found The mornings are cool while the afternoons have been sunny and warm, so many sweatshirts and jackets have been left behind on the playground. These items are collected each day and hung on the Lost & Found rack by the school entrance gate.
If you are missing a favorite jacket, sweatshirt or water bottle, please be sure to stop by and look for these items before the end of the month when they will be donated.
Lost & Found Tips:
- Well labeled items are most easily returned to their owners.
- Laundry proof stickers with a name and phone number are the best. Try Mabel's Labels.
- Sharpies tend to bleed and become difficult to read over time. Labels are best!
- Make sure the label is placed where it can be seen clearly (easier to see if they are up near the top of the garment/neck area).
We try our hardest to reunite kiddos with their lost items so If you are missing anything please check the lost and found today or contact Alina Zyakun (alinazyakun.tca@gmail.com) and she will keep an eye out for it.

We need your help to complete our ‘24-25 PTA budget - please join as soon as possible! The fee is $50 per child, and the dues go directly towards this year’s PTA events that benefit every child in RUSD.
