Dear RUSD Community,

  • Bus Pass Sale - Learn more here.
  • New Chief Business Official (CBO) Update - Our CBO search led us to find an amazing new CBO, Dr. Chris J. Kim. We are so excited for him to join the RUSD team. His talents, experiences, and strength in people skills make him the perfect addition. Carlos will finish with us through June and Dr. McGrath will recommend to the Board that Chris begins in July.
  • Math - After completing our first year of advanced math, Math 7C, for all 7th-grade students. We observed significant improvements in student growth, reflecting positively on this inclusive approach. This success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our middle school math team. We're proud of their efforts and excited to see our students' continued progress!
  • Volunteers Needed for our LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan)  Parent Advisory Group - If you are interested in participating in three or four 2-hour meetings next school year in order to give the school district advice and perspective on how to spend funds and take actions that go above and beyond for our English language learners, foster, homeless, special education, and socioeconomically disadvantaged students, we’d love to hear from you. Please email Nicole Trickett, Coordinator of Educational Services, at ntrickett@reedschools.org to express your interest.

More detailed bio of our new CBO:

Dr. Chris J. Kim will serve as the Chief Business Official for the Reed Union School District beginning in July. He comes to us from the Bellevue Union School District in Sonoma County and brings 18 years of public education leadership experience in both elementary and in university settings. Chris has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, a Master of Business Administration, and is a certified Chief Business Official. As a lifelong learner and educator, he has also taught undergraduate courses in business administration and continues to enjoy guest lecturing public policy courses in education finance. Chris and his partner Julia, an Advisor with the University California Cooperative Extension Marin, are proud parents of an elementary school student who is a motivated learner and creative problem solver. Chris enjoys supporting his daughter’s educational journey to more effectively communicate, collaborate, empathize, advocate, and persevere; core values reflected in the Vision Statement of a Reed Union Graduate. Chris is excited to join the Reed community and looks forward to meeting you!

Best regards,

Dr. Kimberly McGrath

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As another school year draws to a close, let’s take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for the incredible staff who dedicate themselves to our children's success.
From our 155 dedicated teachers, specialists, and supportive classroom aides, to the principals, custodians, and administrators, each member of our school community plays a vital role in fostering a nurturing, stimulating and safe learning environment for our students. Their hard work, passion, and commitment make a profound impact on your child’s educational journey.

To show our appreciation for everything they do, we're launching an End-of-Year Teacher & Staff Gift Fund. This fund will be divided equally amongst all staff members, offering a small token of our immense appreciation. Every contribution, big or small, will go a long way in showing our staff how much their efforts are valued.

Please note that all contributions are entirely voluntary.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership!

Gratefully,
RUSD PTA Executive Board

RUSD Mission & Vision: Each student will be challenged and inspired to reach their fullest intellectual, social-emotional and creative potential to positively impact the world.
