2023-2024 Reed School Calendar

2024-2025 Reed School Calendar

For planning purposes, please use this year's calendar and next year's calendar so that any travels fall during school holidays and students are in attendance on school days. Thank you!

Dear Reed Families & Caregivers,

It was great to see so many of our families at our Reed School Book Fair and Family Night last week. A HUGE thank you goes out to our amazing PTA volunteers for creating such a wonderful event for students, staff, families, and caregivers.  It is hard to believe that spring recess is days away. On behalf of the entire Reed team we wish our students and families a wonderful week. Please take a moment to look through the many photos below of all the exciting events and activities that have already taken place this spring.
Warmly,
Mary Niesyn & Staff

Spring Fun: Community Time Buddies & More!

Specialist Corner: PE Note from Mr. Kaiser

Students have been super busy in PE! March was all about basketball as students learned how to dribble, pass, pivot, and shoot. We learned what “double dribble” means and how to defend without fouling. We also had fun with some PE-style "sleigh-riding" using noodles and rubber mats.

During the Book Fair, we took PE outside and played Drag n' Tails! We learned how to put the tails on, have our tails stepped on, and put our tails back on without any help. Many of our classes advanced their skills so we could play a game called Jack's Corner which is similar to Capture the Flag, but with many more flags. Students learned how to balance offense and defense, have team meetings, and experiment with different strategies to win the game.

It has been such a pleasure to watch students learn, grow, and develop skills. When we return from spring break we begin our Hockey unit!

Phoebe Hearst 2024 Outstanding Educator Award

Reed Book Fair

Reed Book Fair 2024 is in the books! Thank you to ALL the parents, teachers and staff who volunteered their time to make this year’s Reed Book Fair an outstanding success! A special shoutout to our librarian Ms. Smith and to our PTA book fair co-chairs Irina Boguk, Dawn Garrison, Maren Jaffe and Dana Berhoff for all their efforts!

Lunchtime sales showed off our 2nd graders’ math and money management skills, as well as their collaboration and generosity with friends. Family Night brought our community together while strengthening our students' enthusiasm for reading!

The PTA Executive Board wants to congratulate Bel Aire on their fantastic run of The Wizard of Oz. The Bel Aire Play is a marquee PTA event and is one of the most beloved and successful community bonding opportunities within our district. It was a true collaboration between our students and the PTA, and a testament to the countless volunteer hours contributed. Thank you to all the PTA members and students who volunteered their time and made this such a magical experience. Bravo to Anne Ciranni and Jen Feldman for stepping up and leading this production with such humor and grace!
