Dear RUSD Community,

  • E-Bike & E-Scooter Safety - Did you know that riders of Class 3 E-bikes (capable of 28mph) and E-scooters (yes, E-scooters) must have a driver’s license? Here’s a link to great information.
  • YouthTruth Survey - From October 30th to November 17th, the YouthTruth Family survey will be open and we want to hear from you! Please take 10-15 minutes to provide your feedback.  ytsurvey.org/rusdfamily23
  • Strategic Planning - Make plans to attend one of the in-person Strategic Planning sessions. Both will be held in Del Mar's Gym. November 6th at 6 PM & December 8th at 9 AM. Just 90 minutes. Let’s dream big about where we take RUSD!
  • Ashley Williams - Here is a link to Ashley’s Obituary - Ashley’s wishes are for any donations to be guided to Animal Protection. Thank you for your collective kindness and support.

If you are interested in more detailed information, please see below:

E-Bike and E-Scooter Safety:
E-bikes are popular, convenient and environmentally friendly. They also pose issues concerning safety and respect. This issue has grown recently, and we need your help in this partnership.

Did you know that riders:

  1. Must have a license to ride an e-scooter or a class 3 e-bike.
  2. Must wear a helmet.
  3. Must ride as the machine was designed. For example, not adding passengers.
  4. May ride in a bicycle lane if authorized by local authority or ordinance.
  5. Must obey traffic laws.
  6. May ride in bike lanes on the road if the posted speed limit is 25 mph or slower.

Did you know that:

  1. California law prohibits riding e-scooters on sidewalks and pathways unless marked otherwise?
  2. In Marin County, e-bikes cannot exceed 15 mph on any County-maintained pathway. E-Bicycles will boost up to 20 MPH, but riders cannot exceed 15 mph?
  3. Riders should dismount and walk their bike on sidewalks and crosswalks?

Here’s a link to information and a training course.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter and, as always, for your shared concern for the safety of our students.

YouthTruth Survey Information:
Reed Union School District has partnered with the national nonprofit, YouthTruth, to help us hear feedback from you about what we are doing well, and how we can improve. From October 30th to November 17th, the YouthTruth Family survey will be open and we want to hear from you!

PLEASE TAKE THIS 15 MINUTE ONLINE SURVEY HERE: ytsurvey.org/rusdfamily23
Your response is anonymous and will be combined with responses from other parents/guardians throughout the district. Thank you for your feedback! It is a gift that helps us continually improve.

MCOE and OD Free Marin, in collaboration with Song for Charlie, are excited to host an in-person screening of "Drugs in the Age of Fentanyl" followed by a panel discussion on November 7, 2023.

This powerful event aims to raise awareness about Fentanyl, its ease of access, its prevalence in Marin County, and to learn effective communication strategies with your children about this deadly drug.

November District PTA Meeting Wednesday 11/15/2023 @ 5:30PM

Please join us for an evening ZOOM meeting to hear from representatives from the RUSD school board, the Foundation for Reed Schools, and District PTA Executive Board. Reed, Bel Aire, and Del Mar Site Chairs will share site specific updates.

Walk and Roll to School - November 15

Walk and Roll for Ruby on Nov. 15. Join a national celebration of the spirit of Ruby Bridges who, as a six-year old African American in Louisiana in the 1950s, successfully helped to integrate an all-white school. It was Ruby’s daily walk to school, despite bullying and threats, that we’ll celebrate together by walking, rolling, carpooling, or parking-and-walking to school. Come to the Safe Routes to Schools’ welcome table on the morning of Nov. 15 to receive a prize!

RUSD Mission & Vision: Each student will be challenged and inspired to reach their fullest intellectual, social-emotional and creative potential to positively impact the world.
