Dear Bel Aire Families,

Thank you for coming to our open house last week--the Bel Aire community is above and beyond. It was nice to speak with many of you, and I know we all enjoyed the opening musical performance. So many talented students!

Also, thank you to everyone who helped make staff appreciation week special--from the PTA lunch, to the notes and flowers, to the district pancake breakfast--the Bel Aire staff is feeling the love.

Folks, May is a busy month:

  • two classes at the Mosaic Project this week
  • CAASPP testing next week
  • 5th grade Nature Bridge the following week
  • Earth Day Fair Day on the 17th
  • and more!

Encourage your kiddos to get plenty of sleep and read lots of books!

Sincerely,

John DiCosmo

Principal

Bus Passes for the 2023-2024 School Year

We are pleased to announce that annual bus passes for next year are now on sale at www.buschallenge.org. A few notes before you make your purchase:
  • The bus program is designed to provide neighborhood-to-school service. You can view maps of next year’s routes and individual stops by visiting this link and clicking on your selected school (routes, stops, and timings will remain the same as this year).
  • Passes will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. We hope to accommodate as many riders as possible, but we anticipate that routes will sell out. Please make your purchase as soon as possible.
  • Only annual passes will be available. Your pass is only valid on your assigned route. Passes are not transferable (to other people or other routes).
  • The cost of passes for the 2023/24 school year will be $345 each way/$690 round trip. This represents approximately 35% of the actual cost of the pass (the remainder is subsidized by local and state contributions).
  • Please review information about routes and timing to select the correct route and stop.
  • Passes purchased before July 15 will be received in time for the start of school. Buying a pass signifies that you have read, reviewed with your student, and agree to abide by the information shared in the FAQs and bus rules.

We are happy to answer any questions you have at info@buschallenge.org. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing many of your students on board!

Also for 5th Grade: Friday Night Hangout

It’s almost the end of the school year and we want to give the 5th graders a taste of what it’s like to be in Middle School. The Ranch hosts a Friday Night Teen Hangout once a month during the school year and next week (5/19) we are hosting one for only 5th graders to experience the fun. Attendees can chill with friends, play video games, watch movies, and have some fun. Anyone who attends will receive one free snack. Please visit our website at theranchtoday.org  or call (415) 435-4355 for more information.

Staff Appreciation

THANK YOU to the entire Bel Aire Community for making our amazing Bel Aire staff feel appreciated during Staff Appreciation Week. The Bel Aire Team was overwhelmed by all the cards, flowers, treats, coffees, and kind gestures that made them feel loved. Thank you for making last week special for them!

Book Drive

Incredible job Team Bel Aire on a successful Book Drive! Along with Reed, we collected a combined total of 3,690 books for the Book Exchange which exceeded our goal by over 1,100 books! These books will be distributed to under-resourced children in Marin County. We are so proud of our collective efforts! Thank you to everyone who participated! Also, special thanks to Shirley Young for collecting and delivering the books to The Book Exchange on behalf of Bel Aire School!

With Gratitude, Shaida Aytay & Caryn Sarhangi, Book Drive Co-Chairs
