Principal's Message

Families,

We are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Some of my favorite moments of being at a middle school are in the months of May and June. Students seem to begin to appreciate their peers and their teachers just a little more, knowing that the summer months are coming. Here’s to a terrific last four and a half weeks of school! We can do this!!!

It was Staff Appreciation Week last week. Thank you to everyone who showed their love and support of our staff. We had a few days of breakfast on campus, provided by our Leadership class, PTA and also our district office staff / board of trustees. In addition, PTA provided lunch one day and there were garden flowers and sweet treats distributed throughout the week. Lastly, our students wrote kindness notes to staff members - words mean a lot and those filled our buckets! Thank you for all the support of our staff.

Best Wishes,

Chad Stuart (he/him)

Principal

BIKE HERO AWARD - May

A Bike Hero is a GREAT “ROLL” MODEL!

Each May, Parents, Administrators, Teachers and Friends are invited to nominate a student Bike Hero.  A Bike Hero is any student who gets up early to ride regularly, inspires others to bike, eagerly rides as a passenger on a cargo bike, obeys all rules of the road, and has FUN biking.  Four Marin County students (2 elementary, 2 middle) will be selected to win $50.00 gift cards to a store of their choice.

Food Delivery Policy

This year we have had a significant number of students receiving food delivery services like Doordash and Grubhub throughout the school day, and in some cases, daily. We wanted to remind families that having food delivered via these services is not allowed, and from the school's perspective, is unsafe and disruptive to our normal operations. We simply cannot have strangers walking onto campus to make these deliveries. We have seen them engaging with students, and wandering the campus looking for the person who ordered. As a reminder, if students have forgotten to bring lunch, Del Mar provides breakfast and lunch to all students, free-of-charge.  In addition, parents and guardians may drop off clearly labeled items for students on the shelves outside the main office.

If you have questions or concerns regarding this policy, please contact Assistant Principal Michael Song (msong@reedschools.org).

Attendance Instructions

Please keep sick children home and please call the office on the day of your child's absence by 8:00 a.m. (415-435-1468, ext. 4) or email delmar@reedschools.org. This will eliminate the need for a call from the office. We expect students to attend school unless there is an excused absence-for illness, injury, a medical/dental appointment or a religious holiday. All other absences are marked "unexcused." Unexcused absences do not excuse a student from classroom assignments.
Arriving Late? Leaving Early? Follow these instructions:
Students arriving late to school must sign in with the office and get a tardy slip before going to class. If you need to pick your child up in the middle of the day, please try to do so between classes, and be sure to remind your child to come to the office to meet you there, without needing a call from the office. If they must leave in the middle of a class, please send them with a note to give to that teacher so they can excuse themselves. We do not ever want to call into a classroom unless there is an emergency, so please plan accordingly!

We Are Here For You!
