Tomorrow is Open House 6:00-7:30pm
We look forward to seeing all of our Reed families tomorrow night between 6:00-7:30pm! This is your child’s night to shine and share with you some of their many accomplishments. Teachers will have a family check-list to guide you through this special evening with your child. We know that you will be delighted to share in their excitement.
*Reminder - to ensure a safe and successful evening, students and siblings must remain with caregivers at all times.
2nd Grade Choir Performs at Open House
Before heading to your child’s classroom, families are invited to the blacktop at 6:00pm for a special Open House performance by the 2nd grade choir. The choir will sing a few songs they have been practicing in preparation for this big night! Classrooms will be open directly after the performance.
Interested in being a Reed School Aide?
As Reed School continues to grow and we look ahead, we will likely have a few Instructional Aide openings for the 2023-24 school year. If you or someone you know are looking for one of the best part-time positions working with a great team and amazing children, this could be a perfect fit. Please reach out to Isabelle Moattar or Juli Tantum in our front office for more information (415-435-7840).
A Note from our Community Time Department
Reed is a special place to be! Every Wednesday afternoon the whole school comes together as a community. Together we engage in activities focused on Equity & Inclusion and Social/Emotional learning (Kotowazas, Keys to Communication, Kimochis stories, and more). Additionally, we sing our favorite songs and celebrate special events. Second grade leaders welcome the community and lead mindful breathing, birthday celebrations, the pledge, and more. Over the course of the school year, each class presents a special activity or song. Community Time is an important part of building our Reed School culture. Be sure to ask your child about it each Wednesday and enjoy the photos below!

Bel Aire Choir
Yesterday the entire school was treated to a delightful show by the Bel Aire choir and percussionists led by their music teacher Mr. Gist. Our students loved seeing the big kids perform!

A Note from our Foundation (FRS) Sponsored Art Teacher: Ms. Caldwell
All students have been working with clay for the past two weeks. PreK students made hearts and will be glazing this week. Kindergarteners made teddy bears and 1st graders made fish. Inspired by artist Wayne Thiebaud, 2nd graders made miniature food plates. Clay is such a wonderful medium to foster fine motor skills and strengthen the muscles in the arms and hands. Clay projects will be available to take home during Open House in the art room (Room 27).

Bus Pass Announcement from the Yellow Bus Program
We are pleased to announce that annual bus passes for next year will be on sale at www.buschallenge.org on Monday, May 1 at 9:00am. A few notes before you make your purchase:
- The bus program is designed to provide neighborhood-to-school service. You can view maps of next year’s routes and individual stops by visiting this link and clicking on your selected school (routes, stops, and timings will remain the same as this year).
- Passes will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. We hope to accommodate as many riders as possible, but we anticipate that routes will sell out. Please make your purchase as soon as possible.
- Only annual passes will be available. Your pass is only valid on your assigned route. Passes are not transferable (to other people or other routes).
- The cost of passes for the 2023/24 school year will be $345 each way/$690 round trip. This represents approximately 35% of the actual cost of the pass (the remainder is subsidized by local and state contributions).
- Please review information about routes and timing to select the correct route and stop.
- Passes purchased before July 15 will be received in time for the start of school. Buying a pass signifies that you have read, reviewed with your student, and agree to abide by the information shared in the FAQs and bus rules.
We are happy to answer any questions you have at info@buschallenge.org. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing many of your students on board!
