Dear Bel Aire Families,

It's a busy week here at Bel Aire, with teachers engaged in math professional development, 3rd grade classes taking some fun field trips, and Spring Break tapping on classroom windows. Students have been working hard, and they can use a little downtime!

Parents, please come check out the lost and found items displayed on tables in front of the school. Hats, umbrellas, jackets, sweatshirts--you name it! After this week, the items will be cleared out and donated.

Two quick thank-yous:

Thank you to Bel Aire PTA members for continuing to help with our lunch program and everything else. Your dedication to students is contagious.

Thank you to The Foundation for Reed Schools--we will soon have some new library furniture and shelving! You help us reach our full potential! The work you do directly supports our kiddos.

Lastly, welcome back to Dr. McGrath--so great to see you back on the Bel Aire campus talking to students, parents, and teachers. We are going to finish the year strong!

Have a safe and fun break, everyone.

Sincerely,

John DiCosmo

Principal

Nurse's Corner--Is that a louse in my child's hair?

The good news is that we are returning to a more “normal” way of life since the pandemic began. The bad news is that nuisances such as lice infestations increase when children spend more time together sharing hats, brushes, clothing, sleepovers and snuggly reading and play time together. This is a friendly reminder to please check your child’s head regularly for lice. Please note that RUSD policy is that children with live lice should not attend school until they have been treated at home or by a professional lice treatment service. Children who are found to have live lice while at school will be allowed to stay until the end of the school day, and their parents will be notified; they may return to school once lice removal treatment has begun. Please read “A Parent’s Guide to Head Lice from the California Department of Public Health for more information about head lice and how to treat an infestation. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our schools free of lice!

Bel Aire Play

Thank you to all of the dedicated students, parents, staff, directors and producers Lana Burstein, Carli Hamilton & Megan Pirsch who made this year’s production of The Little Mermaid, Jr. such a success! It’s amazing what our third, fourth, and fifth graders can do and we are so fortunate to have such a supportive community at Bel Aire to put on the play. Your dedication and hours of rehearsals and preparation came together for magical performances on the stage that delighted the audience. Thank you!
