Dear Reed Families & Caregivers,
Reed students and staff enjoyed a very happy Valentine’s Day this week and the joyfulness of the day permeated the campus. Students demonstrated much excitement sharing and receiving Valentines with one another. A shout out to our families and caregivers for supporting your child in addressing Valentine cards for their classmates. Another shout out to our generous PTA for providing delicious Valentine treats for staff. It truly was a wonderful day.
Last Friday, Reed School celebrated Global School Play Day. Students and staff participated in various hands-on, interactive activities throughout the day. Students practiced the 4 Cs: communication, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking in the context of interactive play. Take a look at some of the pictures below.
A note about school absences: While we have seen an uptick in student and staff illnesses (please read the note below from Nurse Mankin) and we do not want students to come to school when they are not feeling well, we also are experiencing several absences related to travel and extended weekend excursions. Please make every effort to plan family trips for non-school days/hours. Students miss critical first-time instruction when they are not in class. Teachers and specialists also are busy assessing students as they prepare trimester 2 report cards and are using these final few weeks to complete assessments with students. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Lastly, it is hard to believe that Presidents’ Day and the mid-winter break are just around the corner. We wish our Reed families a wonderful holiday!
Warmly,
Mary Niesyn & Staff

Friendly reminder about when to keep your child home due to illness:
We have seen an uptick in cases of gastrointestinal, pink eye, and other illnesses among our students over the past few weeks. Please remember that students must stay home when they are experiencing symptoms of illness. Keeping ill children at home protects other students, their families, and school staff from infection. Students may return to school once they have improved symptoms and have been without fever, vomiting and diarrhea for over 24 hours (without fever or pain-reducing medication). You may refer to our "When to Keep Your Child Home From School" document for more detailed guidance. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our schools healthy and safe!
-- Nurse Mankin
Reed School PreK/Kindergarten Registration - ENROLL NOW
PreK/Kindergarten online registration is open for incoming students new to Reed School. If you have an incoming age-eligible PreK or Kindergarten child, please register as early as possible. Spread the word among friends and neighbors in the district. Early registration is important so we can plan and secure staff and classrooms.
*Current PreK & Kindergarten students do not need to re-register. Current students will remain automatically enrolled.

Lost and Found
Please be sure to check the lost and found for any favorite jacket, sweater, sweatshirt, or water bottle. The lost and found rack is stationed next to the gate by the MPR. Items left behind will be donated on February 17, April 7, and June 9.
Helpful hint: be sure your child’s first and at least last name is on anything your child brings to school (labels are best, Sharpie works in a pinch). Every effort is made to reunite lost items with their owners. Thank you!
