Congratulations are in order! Bel Aire Elementary is being recognized as a 2023 California Distinguished School. This is an exceptional achievement. The California Distinguished Schools program recognizes schools for their excellent work in closing the achievement gap and achieving exceptional student performance. The California Department of Education uses multiple measures to identify eligible schools based on their performance on the state indicators as specified on the California School Dashboard. I am so proud to recognize the hard work of the students, staff, Board, and families of Bel Aire.
I would also like to recognize the contributions of Reed Elementary. Since state testing does not occur at the PreK through second grade level, Reed Elementary will not be eligible for this award. However, it is the collective effort of Reed and Bel Aire that prepares our students for this level of achievement.
Earlier this school year, Del Mar Middle received the National Schools to Watch recognition, and now we have the opportunity to celebrate the amazing efforts of Reed and Bel Aire.
