Dear Bel Aire Families,

Happy New Year! We're off to a fantastic, if not soggy, start at Bel Aire.

I'm always amazed at how much growth and maturity (yes, maturity!) we see in students at this point in the year. They are familiar with the routines and expectations, and they are able to learn so quickly--I'm proud of them.

A few notes:

  • If you drop off via car on rainy days, please watch out for the big puddle (lake?) that forms near the school entrance. Avoid dropping off your kiddo on that side of the driveway, as they'll have to walk through the water.
  • Please look through the lost and found collection in front of the office--it's full!
  • Rain boots, hoodies, raincoats, umbrellas, and warm wooly clothes are a good idea right now. When kids dress in  warm clothes, they can stay healthy!
  • We have a Fire Drill this Thursday and a Staff Safety meeting on 1/18 -- safety is always a priority.
  • Gennifer Choldenko will be doing an author visit with us next Thursday. Thank you for sponsoring, PTA!

Lastly, a help-wanted ad:

If you or someone you know might be interested in helping out Bel Aire as an instructional aide, we have one part-time open position that's been a long time trying to fill. Let me know if you'd like more info.

Marin County Significant Weather Event Forecast

Marin is forecast to receive a significant storm this evening and Thursday with the potential of high winds, flooding, and power outages.

The Marin County Office of Education (MCOE) has been monitoring this storm and assisting districts as we prepare.  We are also in close communication with involved agencies and we will pass along any pertinent information to our families and staff.

Due to the expected severity of the storm, we are taking precautions to ensure our campuses are safe for our students and staff.  Our maintenance and custodial staff have inspected the areas on our campuses, and our staff will continue to monitor conditions throughout the course of the storm.

Please know that our plan is to keep schools open as long as there are no extended power outages, flooding, or impassable roads.  Please provide yourself extra time and use extra caution as you travel to and from school. As always, everyone’s safety is our primary concern.

In the unlikely event of a school closure, we will communicate to employees and parents/guardians via email and other means of communication.

Stay safe!
