Dear Bel Aire Families,

Tomorrow is the much anticipated Bel Aire Fall Festival! There will be fun for the whole family from 5-7 PM. The PTA has been working tirelessly to put this shindig together--it's going to be a blast.

Speaking of the PTA--the Bel Aire Book Fair concludes tomorrow. The PTA has done an incredible job with the book fair, and it will be open during the Fall Festival. See details below.

Also, tomorrow, 10/20, is the 3rd Grade Parent Talk from 8:30 - 9:30 in the Board Room. Led by Dr. Gold, this will be an opportunity to hear about what is typical for children at this age, raise topics you and other parents have questions about, and start the critical process of networking with other parents of third grade children. Dr. Gold will share several topical articles and take questions. Please sign in at the office.

Just when you thought we couldn't possible cram anything else into a Thursday, we'll be holding a district-wide earthquake drill tomorrow. Students will drop, cover, and hold for 60 seconds before evacuating the school building. Practicing for an emergency is the best way we can keep everyone safe.

A BIG SHOUT-OUT to the Del Mar Student Leadership team for coming to Bel Aire today to help during recess and class time. Great work! We're looking forward to their next visit.

Halloween at Bel Aire

Like recess, Halloween is a big deal at Bel Aire. We're happy to welcome parents back to campus for the Halloween parade this year. The parade will be on Monday, October 31st at 1:10 PM and will take about 35-45 minutes.

Post-parade classroom parties have been scheduled at the discretion of the classroom teacher. Parents may not attend. Only pre-determined room parents or party planning parents may attend. Two per classroom. I know, it's a bummer that most parents will miss out on the classroom fun, but this helps us keep the focus on students. Teachers will send you plenty of great pictures!

Here are some guidelines that help us maintain a safe, fun experience for all.

For students:

  • Costumes are optional.
  • Costumes may not include weapons, masks, or gore (this includes parents).
  • Students must be able to put on their costumes by themselves and wear them comfortably.

For parents:

  • Park at the bottom of the hill on Karen Way
  • Check in at the tables near the front office. Sign in is alphabetical by parent last name. Look for your table. For example, I would go to the A-E table - DiCosmo.
  • Go to the upper blacktop after checking in
  • No need to for parents to sign out after the parade, but we ask that all parents depart campus after the parade.
