RUSD Community,

Marin County Public Health announced that effective October 4th, the isolation procedures for students who have tested positive for COVID-19 will be changing such that no test will be required to exit isolation after Day 6 with improved symptoms and use of a mask around others. This change for students is in alignment with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations. Marin County Public Health credits the high vaccination rate of Marin County residents and low hospitalizations throughout recent surges in confidence of the change. Please note that this change does not extend to staff due to Cal/OSHA regulations at this time. RUSD will continue to collaborate with Public Health and will provide additional information as it is received. See below for the updated procedure for students who have tested positive for COVID-19 or are symptomatic without testing to return to school. You are encouraged to join the Marin County Public Health Schools Community Update on October 3rd at 4:00pm by viewing the information below and to monitor Marin County's CDC Community Level to assist you in assessing your personal risk for protective measures.

RUSD STUDENT Return to School Procedures After Positive Test and Symptomatic without Testing:

  • Stay home for 5 days from date of symptom onset or if positive and asymptomatic, the date of positive test
  • Return on Day 6 IF:
  • Symptoms are resolving (including vomit, diarrhea and fever-free for 24 hours without medication), and
  • Agreement to use a mask around others for 10 days from symptom onset or if asymptomatic, date of positive test

Marin County Public Health SAVE THE DATE: The updated plan for COVID-19 prevention in schools will be reviewed at the next Public Health Update for the School Community webinar on Monday, October 3 at 4:00pm. The update will be held via online (zoom link; Webinar ID: 838 4448 1710; Passcode: 722670; Dial In: 408-638-0968). Questions can be submitted in advance to RapidResponse@marinschools.org.
